I’m not sure about the term”Girl Power”? May that incorrectly suggest that girls NEED power and boys already HAVE it? Research into these linguistics would probably be helpful and thinking more about the way we talk to our girls can help. Surely the facts lay clear that their are gender gaps everywhere and greater, more nefarious inequities in places where legal systems are weak. In my book, physical strength begets mental strength and confidence. Perhaps we should start rethinking why boys begin competitive sports at young ages more so than girls? Research suggests sports competition builds self-confidence at young ages. I wonder how society would change if we started to emphasize more physical fitness and athleticism in our young girls?
